It has always been assumed that the transporting of the stones determined the length of the construction period. Due to the enormous number of stones this has been the case in all previously postulated methods.
The Stonemason Theory:
It was the stonemasons who set the pace of work.
This is why the external cladding on the Chefren and Mykerinos pyramids is different from that of the Cheops Pyramid.
